After Sauron was defeated, his Dark spirit found refuge in the fortress of Dol Guldur, located in the southern part of Mirkwood. Gathering strength and waiting for the right moment, the sorcerer filled the nearby woods with orcs, wargs, and giant spiders, all under his command. This dark presence forced the native elves to abandon their lands and take up arms. Yet the rise of the dark sorcerer within the fortress walls did not go unnoticed. Radagast, ally of Gandalf, was the first to sense the presence of the “Necromancer.” Through his bond with animals and plants, he felt the approach of the Dark Mage and warned the other wizards. From LEGO set 79014 you can build a detailed replica of Dol Guldur fortress, made up of three sections. At the center are the massive oak-barred gates, which can be opened with a hidden mechanism to reveal the Necromancer’s chambers. Flanking the gates are two semicircular staircases, ideal for battle scenes during a siege. The left wing has swinging gates with black iron grilles, a mounted catapult, and sharp blades above. The right section features a tall stone tower, where a skeleton prisoner can be displayed in a cage. Beside the tower lies a hidden passage covered in spiderwebs, concealing a curved sword activated by a special lever. For an even larger build, LEGO set 79014 can be combined with LEGO 79011 Dol Guldur Ambush.
